Ryan Clarke
A native of Long Beach, NY, Ryan is a product of the lacrosse hotbed that is Long Island, as evidenced by his tough play, intimidating defense, and questionable haircut. Ryan played his high school ball at the perennial Long Island powerhouse known as Chaminade High School where competition for spots is so intense players can't even try-out for the varsity till their junior year. Ryan was a two-year starter for the Flyers, earning All-Long Island honors in both his junior and senior seasons, and was also an accomplished receiver for the Flyers' football team, known for his acrobatic catches and ferocious blocks. In 2002 Ryan was selected to play for the prestigious Long Island Empire Team, which went on to not only win the Gold medal in the Empire Games, but also defeated the USA U-19 team, despite having some of their best players on the U-19 sideline. Ryan came up big for the Long Island team that day, playing solid defense, and even netting a goal against his future college teammate, and fellow Performance Lacrosse coach, Harry Alford.
At the conclusion of his high school career Ryan chose to play lacrosse for the University of Maryland, and was a four year starter for the Terrapins at long stick middie. Matching up on the opposing team's top midfielder, Clarke consistently shut down his man, while also making big plays for the Terps on the face-off wing, and was named a team captain his senior year. A two-time ACC Champion and Final Four participant, Clarke again showed his knack for scoring in big games with a terrific bounce shot in the NCAA Semi-final game that sparked the Terps into a comeback that nearly brought them to the National Championship. Not only a good athlete, Ryan was also a solid student, earning a place on the ACC Academic Honor Roll from 2004-2006. Ryan graduated from Maryland in 2007 with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice, and currently works as an account manager in Washington, D.C. for a 2007 "Best Practices Agency", Howard W. Phillips & Co.
