Mike Phipps
Coming out of the lacrosse hotbed of Annapolis, MD and playing in the most competitive high school lacrosse league, the MIAA, Mike was an outstanding attackman for the Severn Admirals. Over the course of his career Mike compiled impressive stats, including scoring over 100 points his junior and senior year, that would place him 5th All-time on the school's scoring list. After being recruiting by a number of D1 programs Mike chose to attend the University of Maryland on a lacrosse scholarship.
As a freshman Mike made some solid contributions to the Maryland squad, including two key goals less than a minute apart in the Terps' 10-9 win over then No. 4 North Carolina. By his sophomore year he was a confirmed starter on the Maryland attack, but had his season cut short due to injury. In his junior year Phipps recovered from the previous season's injuries and started every game for the Terps, putting up solid numbers behind fellow attackmen Joe Walters and Xander Ritz. Heading into his final campaign Phipps began the season in the best shape of his life and stood out as the quarterback of the Maryland offense. Though the season ended earlier than the Terps would have liked, Mike was still able to post an impressive 28 goals, and 22 assists, nearly doubling his output from the previous year, while making fewer turnovers than any member of the offense. Phipps was named an All-American, and received Maryland's Van Trump Award as the Best Attackman on the team at the conclusion of the 2007 season.
After graduating from Maryland's highly ranked criminal justice program, Mike chose to stick with the Terps and is currently the attack coach for the team.
